1. Washing
Ensure you wash your car wrap once a week, depending on its exposure to dirt and pollutants. For instance, if your vehicle is on the road more often, wash it at least twice a week. However, when washing your car, always hand wash it to prevent scarring and tearing your vehicle wrap.
The detergent you use should also be mild and non-abrasive, e.g. 3M car wash soap 39000. Additionally, use an automotive sponge or soft cloth and rinse your vehicle with clear water after gently scrubbing it down.
2. Pressure washing
Using a pressure wash to clean your car is NOT recommended as it tends to lift the edges of your vehicle wrap. Alternatively, go to automated brushless car washes as they can be more gentle and safer on your car wrap.
The use of a brush car wash can cause your car wrap to degrade, scratch, and lift, affecting its overall purpose of advertising.
3. Difficult contaminants
At times, your vehicle wrap may have bird stains or bug splatter that is hard to remove by hand washing your car. In this case, soak the affected area with hot and soapy water for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly.
If this doesn’t work, you can ask your car wrap company for advice on detergents that won’t cause any damage to your vehicle graphics.
4. Store indoors
Vinyl wraps are like paint, and after prolonged exposure to sunlight, they tend to fade and degrade. Store your vehicle in a garage or in a shaded area whenever possible to avoid this.
